Carli Schultz Kruse
juiceglass
Carli Schultz Kruse first met glass at the Corning Museum when she was a little
girl, and was amazed at what the wizards there could do with the medium. In
2003 she took a beginning fusing class and shortly after moved to Portland,
Oregon, not realizing she was moving to one of the glass art hot spots in the
United States, where she plunged into lampworking and jewelry fabrication in a
swoon. During all this, she has also been a web designer, a bellydancer, Thomas
Dolby's tour manager and a new Mom.
Carli tried making lovely beads with precisely arranged dots and patterns, and
soon realized that wasn't her gig. Organic designs, colors, and mixing glass with
metals are her path. She has a rule that no books on glass or jewelry may be read
after 8 pm, or she is up all night with her brain whirring with ideas.
