Dee's evolution into making art jewelry was a meandering journey starting with a
professional background in science. After working in her field as a research
entomologist, Dee became a nature photographer for a stock agency.  As creative
forces took over, her “serial crafting” eventually led h
er to polymer clay -- a
medium which she says has taken over her life.

Dee prefers making jewelry because she loves working on a small scale. She says
she becomes bored easily and only enjoys creating things if she's learning at the
same time, so experimentation is the foundation of her work.

After living all around the U.S., Dee and her husband retired to their own piece of
wilderness on a hill in the woods in Mississippi where they don’t have any
neighbors. They're down from three dogs to one -- Popeye our JRT. He will have
a new sister around the holidays.
